CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIGNAGE FOR YOUR BUSINESS

business signage

Choosing the right signage for your business is important for a number of reasons. First and foremost, did you know that many people choose restaurants and retail locations simply because they see the company’s sign? While this mostly applies to fast food restaurants, it’s relevant across nearly all industries.

Before you choose the sign for your company, you should take some time to research different types of signs and figure out which one will best represent your brand. Below, you can learn about some of the most popular types of signs and in which industries they work best.

Types of Signage

While we won’t list all of the types of signage available here, we’ll list some of the most popular types. Remember that not all signs are right for all types of businesses, and some will stand out better than others.

  • LED Channel Letters – Most frequently, you’ll see these types of signs on retail establishments and in malls. Generally these signs consist of a base letter with LED lights inside. A semi-transparent covering goes over the top to diffuse the light, most often in colors that are related to the brand.
  • Box signs – These are just what they sound like! Box signs usually have the logo or company name on them and are backlit from inside the box. These signs are great for small businesses since they generally aren’t as expensive, but can still pack a powerful punch.
  • LED message centers – These are ideal for companies that frequently have changing information, including schools, churches and even hospitals. You can program these signs to say anything you want. Depending on the type of sign you choose, you’ll also be able to customize colors and even add photos. These tend to be a little pricier, but are worth it for businesses that can utilize them to their fullest. Additionally, LEDs can last for up to 10 years without requiring serious maintenance.
  • Neon and “faux” signs – Signs lit by neon are being used less and less; however, they are still relevant for some types of businesses. “Faux” neon LED alternatives now exist to provide the look of neon with the durability and efficiency of LED.  Most often used in bars and restaurants, neon signs require a significant amount of maintenance, but also hold a certain appeal. They’re classic, beautiful, and come in an array of colors.
